Présentation du restaurant
Embracing the Italian concept of simple, seasonal ingredients, Porro Wellfield is a charming, modern eatery that serves British recipes with Italian influences. Independently sourced wines are served alongside a great selection of ales, lagers and ciders, while a private dining area with its own mini bar can be booked for special occasions.
The Porro Wellfield menu is seasonal, and features locally sourced ingredients alongside those specially imported from Italy. Start off with light bites of arancini balls or salami served with sourdough bread and cornichons, before moving on to mains like pappardelle pasta with beef ragu, veal escalope pan-fried with white wine, or a selection of hand-stretched pizzas.
An extensive wine list at Porro Wellfield in Cardiff features carefully sourced bottles from smaller suppliers, with a great range of beers and ciders also available. The dessert menu features delicate Italian favourites such as tiramisu, affogato, and vanilla panna cotta with Wye Valley rhubarb and honeycomb.
An inviting venue to enjoy seasonal Italian flavours, Porro Wellfield is just a 10-minute drive from Cardiff Rail Station.

This is a place trying to be everything for everyone. It pretends to be a restaurant, but has TVs installed on the wall and was showing Rugby and had more of a "posh" pub atmosphere. We asked to move as we were sitting under the TV and could not hear our own conversation. We then sat next to the door to the garden and another TV, which at least was not hanging over us. People were in and out to smoke and so were the serving staff to get things from a storage unit in the garden. Every time the door was left open or ajar at freezing temperatures outside - not very pleasant when you are having lunch. The service was slow. The starters came more or less immediately which means they were not cooked fresh and then we waited over an hour for the main. We had several waiters come to the table asking if we would like to order if we had ordered etc. No co-ordination. My fried asked for a medium steak and was given a medium rare more on the rare side and it was tough. She had the steak 3 times before and it was fine, but as they changed the cut the quality dropped. They allowed her to change her choice which was fine. When we received the bill we were charged twice for the new choice. When we complained they corrected it and took 1 glass of wine off to compensate for all the errors. Overall the food was ok, however the prices are too high for what is offered. This is a local "restaurant" serving a burger with very little else in the burger and a handful of chips, no salad or anything else at £10. The very small fillet of sea bream on lentils was £16. The steak again only with a handful of chips was £18. I have been served more food in London Michelin starred restaurants for these prices. For dessert we had panacotta with rhubarb which was nice and Italian cheeses with crispbreads and an inedible tomato chutney (it was not clear what taste it was supposed to be tomato, acidy, spicy?) and looked like baby food or worse thrown in a bowl. In summary looks nice but no substance.
