Awarded World’s Best Pastry Chef by the World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards, Dominique Ansel’s eponymous London bakery has launched its afternoon tea of sweet and savoury bites inspired by a fruit and vegetable garden.

Offering a full vegetarian menu influenced by fruit and vegetable patches, indulge in savoury and then sweet bites that celebrate the freshest produce and seasonal harvest. Freshly baked, warm scones with clotted cream and homemade fresh strawberry jam will also be served, as well as optional additions from wine and champagne to a selection of premium dishes.

Other menu highlights include Peas in the Pod: English pea mousse, crème fraîche, crushed peas, fresh mint, and a pea and parmesan sablé "pod"; the Romanesco: with truffled cabbage coleslaw, cauliflower purée, Romanesco broccoli and choux, and lastly, the Caramelia Honeybee: crafted with Valrhona caramelia, chocolate mousse, and honey blackberry compote with miniature honeybees to decorate. Choose from the Signature Afternoon Tea, add a glass of bubbles with the Sparkling Tea, or opt for the Splendid, which adds a selection of premium savoury bites.

Afternoon Tea is served each Thursday-Sunday for 2 seatings at 2pm and 4:15pm in the bakery’s beautiful covered garden terrace. Dominique Ansel Bakery is a 5-minute walk from Victoria Station.

Every detail was beautifully thought through. The food was stunning and the presentation was gorgeous. The atmosphere in the garden room was romantic and whimsically. A magical afternoon!

Came for the afternoon tea (Which was a festive theme) as it was highly recommended, however there was not enough food, we left still hungry. There were not enough savoury pieces and too many sweet, which all had the same structure. Would have been nice to mix up the variety of styles with pies, tarts, sandwiches etc. As we looked around, it was clear other felt the same as everyone had left desserts behind.

The bad and incompetent service overshadowed the food entirely. Not comparable at all to service provided at the many hotels offering afternoon tea.

Highly disappointing for how much we paid. Yes the pastries looked fantastic and the setting is lovely making it incredibly atmospheric, but the food was very poor for the price. This was a tea of style over substance on both the savoury and sweets. Much of the savoury options lacked flavour or were textually poor. The avocado for example felt quite gummy and mushy. Likewise, the sweet pastrys were pretty to look at but didn't taste of much. Worst however, were the scones. Terrible scones which were dense, dry, and whilst warm on the outside were still cold on the inside. The clotted cream and jam which came as the cocoa butter covered strawberries are a nice idea but executed poorly. The whole point of clotted cream is for it to be spreadable, rich and luxurious. These were served to us so ice cold that it was chunks of solid cream and not enough jam. We don't really see the point of the cocoa butter strawberries either which added nothing to the experience aside from us saying "oh that's an interesting way to present it". Most disappointing of all was the terrible cronut. The pastry had clearly been filled far to long in advance ruining the texture. It came out soggy and tough with none of the flaky layered textures we expected. The rarebit cronut however, was excellent and something i would recommend but overall, a poor experience for the food.

Food was beautiful, service excellent, overall very pleasant. Regarding the setting. I would ditch the hanging flowers, but keep the hanging glass balls with flowers inside.

The 3 of us booked an afternoon tea, 2 cronuts and some dishes from the menu. Service: i personally liked the service, the waitresses that served us were very welcoming, knoledgeable and polite .The cronuts : one was more cooked than the other and had twice the filling . Taste was nice.for tgese reason i would score them 3 out of 5 stars. Afternoon tea: presentation was very good. Some of them were bot flavour balanced to our opinion but overall was 4 out 5 stars. We decided to only book 1 afternoon tea because 2 of us were vegetarian and unfortunately you dont have vegetarian options. We loved the special tea blend so much we were hoping to buy it from you but you dont sell it.
