Holding a Michelin star, Lympstone Manor offers unparalleled views, with the manicured lawns leading down the Vineyard and out across the Exe Estuary to the Bay of Lyme. One of Britain’s most celebrated and influential chefs, chef/patron Michael Caines MBE utilises the bounty of the Exe estuary, East Devon and the Southwest, on a menu matched by a wine cellar of over 600 bins.
The cellar at Lympstone Manor is integral to the experience, with a vineyard, planted across 10 acres of grounds in 2018 sat between the house and estuary. Three distinct menus are served at dinner, Michael's Signature Tasting menu, the Estuary tasting menu and a choice a la carte as well as an additional 3-course menu at lunch.
Overlooking the Exe estuary, Lyme Bay and the Devon coast, each room at Lympstone Manor has its own style, contemporary yet at the same time wholly in keeping with the traditional design and proportions of a Georgian manor house.

Sunday lunch at Lympstone Manor exceeded all our expectations! There is an air of casual elegance about the hotel, creating the ideal relaxed venue for a lazy Sunday afternoon. The staff are attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. The decor is an eclectic mix of modern and traditional, with soft muted tones, comfortable furnishings, stunning lighting and some very interesting artwork and objet d'art. Our food was beautifully presented and tasted divine, but don't expect huge portions as this is more about culinary delights that tickle the tastebuds than heaped platefuls of food. The deserts, in particular, are amazing! There are some nice touches like a wine tasting room, a choice of three restaurants and some beautiful artwork on sale for those with deep pockets. We enjoyed the impromptu tour of the kitchens after our meal, and the charming young man who was doing the washing up warrants a special mention because of his cheerful nature. The valet parking, disabled loo and lack of steps means it's a good choice for those with walking difficulties. This was our first visit the Lympstone Manor and it definitely won't be our last.
