Really nice afternoon tea except the price of £22.95 isn't the price you get charged. They charge you nearer £30per person, just to be aware.

We were staying for just one night at the hotel so chose to eat at the restaurant having looked at the menu online. It was definitely the right choice. Everything about this experience was wonderful, from the understated but attentive staff to the delicious, creative food on the menu. Expensive, yes, but worth paying a premium for such a pleasant and memorable dining experience. Book with complete confidence.

Delightful location, delicious food extremely well presented, and excellent service. Only let down slightly by my wife’s disappointment that the chocolates promised on the menu at the end of the dinner didn’t materialise! We will certainly be returning, however, and would recommend it to friends

This Winter Afternoon Tea was a simple afternoon tea. We have been on quite a few but was disappointed with this hotel. The sandwiches was bland, cucumber and cream cheese, and ham and mustard, nothing special; we asked for brown bread but was given white and brown. The scones had burnt currents and was quite small. There was no offer of additional coffee unlike other hotels. I am sorry to say, I would not recommend this experience to friends.

We started off sitting by the fire in the lovely bar. Here we had a Plymouth gin and Fevertree tonic and a glass of Prosecco and were served mouth-watering appetisers while we perused the pleasingly small menu and made our choices. A very civilised start to the evening. Then we were shown to our table in the dining room where the starters were served - a tasty grilled mackerel and a lovely smoked salmon. The main courses were bream and lamb - both very nice indeed. These were accompanied by a bottle of Picpoul (and a glass of rioja with the lamb). We ended with coffee in the bar (although the promised petits-fours never arrived!). We were disappointed that, although the wine list promised armagnac, in fact none was available. There was a debate as to whether Talisker whisky was available, we ended up having a very nice Japanese whisky. This was a most enjoyable meal in attractive surroundings. The staff were attentive and pleasant. Highly recommended. Thanks to all concerned. We were here on 12th February 2020.

Food was very overpriced and not particularly good. Dining room totally empty apart from our table and the whole experience was awkward and not pleasant. Surroundings looked dirty

Full afternoon tea - lots of beautiful flavours. Sat by a window with beautiful view and comfortable seating. Service was excellent. Highly recommend as a venue for a relaxing treat!
