Lovely little restaurant, fast friendly service. The menu is based on what is caught by the owners. First time trying lobster and it was fantastic. I will be going back.

We spend 2 to three nights in Wells every two or three weeks since buying our holiday home there about two years ago. We are "foodies" but for some reason have overlooked Rocky Bottoms until this week. Our experience was very good and Rocky Bottoms will be added to our list of favoured places to eat when we are in North Norfolk. The lobster/crab/oyster/mussels menu suited us for a light'ish lunch. Happy with fish only but another day, the lack of a [white] fish option might put us off - maybe these are available on the dinner menu. Battered haddock with the terrific chips (not the fries) would be good. We bought dressed crab at the shop for later and they were as good as we can remember! Already added to the list of recommended places to eat in North Norfolk amongst our foodie friends in and around our village. When it comes to ratings, remember we are picky - 3 is pretty good. This was 3-4 with limitations related to the slightly limited menu - incidentally, my tempura oysters as a starter was terrific - I might go for it as a starter and a main next time. Allan Binks

Lovely food, really fresh, big portions. We had squid then fish n chips from the specials board and a huge bowl of really fresh mussels. Second visit... definitely going again! If you’re a seafood fan, you absolutely must try this restaurant. Service excellent, friendly and lovely restaurant atmosphere. Many thanks.

On arrival in pouring rain we felt like we were in the way, not really a warm welcome. A rather indifferent waitress but she did say that our table was ready but that there was a loud and noisy birthday group in the kiln too. Not a problem we said we were a party of 4 out celebrating. We were handed menus asked if there were any specials and then left. We ordered starters fairly quickly and asked could we have a few minutes to think. We were told rather curtly that the chef starts clearing down at 8. We arrived at half 7. Anyway we asked another waitress who seemed a little embarrassed by this but confirmed it. We chose 2x surf and turf and 1 curry and 1 Thai lobster. The starters were good. Spicy squid and crevettes we can’t fault. The oysters were nice not amazing but good. The main courses we were all so disappointed with the surf and turf. The steaks although rare and medium rare were really tough. The curry was very stodgy and the Thai lobster very bland. We felt all night that we were just an inconvenience to our waitress. I had booked this meal many weeks before with high hopes after the reviews. Seriously the waitress we had needs to cheer up and really don’t let people book for half 7 if you want them out of the door by half 8. £30 for a surf and turf that I wouldn’t have paid £20 for. Won’t be back

The chowder was excellent, much better than the last time we had it. It had a more creamier consistency and tastier. The crevettes were slightly disappointing, could have done with some aioli to dip the prawns in and to make them more moist.

Still one of my favourite restaurants in North Norfolk. Fresh seafood, beautifully presented, great staff and £3 per head corkage. What's not to love?
