A wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. Staff very attentive. It was a pleasure to taste our 'first' Christmas Dinner of the season.

We were blown away by the assistant manager, whom we addressed as Maitre d'. She was knowledgeable about the dishes, knew all about La Tante Claire in London, where we dined many years' ago with happy memories, fun to talk to, yet judged her banter really well. However, the rest of the young staff, had no idea what they were doing and had clearly never eaten anywhere but burger joints, as they dumped cutlery on the table as if they had no idea what is was for, or where it should go. It really is not good enough to take young staff on, without training them to wait tables correctly. Although this is a relaxed brasserie atmosphere, the names above the door deserved better. Simple things like not clearing aperitif glasses when delivering the main courses and not watching the room to see when diners required something are elementary and work station principles should be drummed in, to make as few journeys to the table as possible, with every one being productive. Loved the food. Fishcake was brilliant and the braised Ox Cheek classically sticky, sweet and accompanied by perfectly whipped mash. Could have benefited from the addition of some greenery - kale, spinach We dined early, as we had an event to attend at the Forum, Bath. The early menu was tempting enough but we'd like clarity on how, if mixed and matched with dishes form the a la carte, pricing would work. This seemed all a little vague and although we didn't delve into the numbers on the bill, as we had enjoyed a lovely meal, some would have questioned this. The re-furbed Abbey Bar area is a great improvement and the general atmosphere excellent. We will be back, but hoping some training will have happeneed (plus the assistant manager being on duty for us again!).

The food is very good, and so is the service. We were guests in the hotel and also took breakfast which again was good. The decor is very nice particularly the lighting. My only small criticism is that at dinner the dress code is not enforced, Very ripped jeans, tee shirts etc so there seems little point in having one.

Worst afternoon tea I have had. 8 small triangle sandwiches in thin bread that was very dry almost felt stale. Complained to bar staff who’s said they would speak to chef. No response to complaint and no apologies just £10 off (£50 bill) As it was a birthday treat for friend I didn’t take it any further but emailed the following day and once again have had no response ! Very poor service from such a central Bath hotel. Disappointed !!!

Distinctly average compared to the marketing. Highly unlikely to go back much. Maybe say once a year. I would say probably in our top 20 places though.

I got it wrong when booking ...I thought that the fixed price menu was available all evening and we arrived for 1900 Having said that the chicken forestier was lovely ...great portion size and fresh ingredients with succulent chicken We opted to share a pudding..the lemon tart which was fine but nothing special We were seated immediately and served appropriately The sourdough bread was deliciously decadent It too sure about the ambiance in the restaurant ..not cosy or warm and the hard services made it quiet noisy

I was shocked at what you have done to the lovely art bar, it use to be cosy and welcoming now its such a mix match of styles, I felt like the half we were sat in was similar to sitting in toilets bright and white, they also ran out of martini glasses (we were a group of 7 and the bar was quiet) the barman said they only had 4 martini glasses! The cocktails were very good though and the staff very friendly. Once in the restaurant the service was fantastic and the food was delicious just sack your interior designer!! it lacked warmth and atmosphere, thank goodness the waiter was aesthetically pleasing ??

We had a fixed price lunch and really enjoyed the food. The service was very good and the waiter attentive but not over attentive. The restaurant was not busy but we had a table by the window so it was very pleasant. The food was a reasonable price and we also looked at the a la carte menu which we thought was a good price for the area.

Dining here was a nice experience. Great choice of starters, mains and desserts, although Marco Pierre White's signature fillet steak was a bit disappointing in terms of value/price compared to the rest of the menu.
