This was a good place to meet for lunch to catch up with friends, and overall we had a nice time. The music in the snug wasn't a brilliant idea. It changed from style to style as if we were listening to a radio programme, and it was a bit loud. If there has to be music, pick the style and volume carefully. Everyone seemed to enjoy their main meals without them being noteworthy. My sandwich was really boring though! How can you make a roast veg and hummus sandwich boring?? A sandwich costing seven whole pounds. Somehow they managed it. The staff were friendly without being intrusive, and appeared to have actual personalities, which was a plus.

Great little country pub serving good quality pub grub in a friendly atmosphere. Very popular, therefore necessary to pre-book at most times.

Never been before, but being local wanted to explore. Booking simple, table ready when we arrived, atmosphere excellent, environment just what you want for a Sunday lunch - warm, lots of happy people, staff without exception polite, cheerful and responsive. A slick machine in place. Only two negatives: the vegetables, especially the cabbage, were overcooked. But to be fair, when you are producing hundreds of roasts, this is always going to be a problem. The other was the wait between ordering and the arrival of the pudding. However, when queried, the staff member did actually go and check, and apologies we're offered. Impressive. We'll certainly try again, but not on a Sunday lunch - only to see if it's as good at other times!
