Présentation du restaurant
A beautiful setting with handsome vaulted ceilings and original oak beams makes the restaurant at Minster Mill the perfect place to savour fine contemporary, seasonal British cooking. Head Chef Tom Moody fuses contemporary and traditional British cooking and adds an appealing local twist, while supporting British farmers, fishermen and artisan producers. Though Minster Mill is barely a hundred years old, it is built on the foundations of a thousand year old mill that finds mention in the Domesday Book.
Using the best regional and seasonal ingredients, the Minster Mill menu features dishes like roasted Cornish turbot with creamed leeks, aged loin of Cotswold lamb with crispy belly or Merryfield duck with broccoli. Guests can drop by for a leisurely lunch, an intimate dinner or an indulgent afternoon tea.
Round off an excellent meal with a sweet treat like rhubarb with vanilla custard or praline fondant with lime curd. At the Minster Mill bar, savour a wide range of fine wines, champagnes and perfectly shaken classic cocktails.
Set in the gorgeous Cotswolds, the restaurant at Minster Mill is easily accessible from the A40 and is an 8-minute drive from the town of Witney.

The service was excellent. The waiting staff were not hanging round trying to hurry us along as my dad is a slow eater. The food was okay, not quite as good as Lower Slaughter, however good value. All 5 courses were enjoyable, I'd make a return visit.

Afternoon tea was not as good as I’d expected based on the photos on the website. The sandwiches and scones were fine (though the scones didn’t come with enough cream) the ‘cakes’ were very disappointing there were only 3, one was a tart literally cut in half and the lemon cake was inedible tasted like there was cleaning fluid in it. The final disappointment was being charged for my orange juice in lieu of tea or coffee. I don’t drink tea and coffee and therefore asked for orange juice instead only to find I’d been charged for it when the bill came! I’ve had afternoon tea at many venues who have never charged me for a basic soft drink replacement.

The restaurant is a beautifully decorated barn conversion in the Minster Mill hotel. It’s very cosy with a fireplace for winter days but also has a lovely riverside outdoor terrace for sunnier days. The cocktails to start with were delicious. The food is excellent. The service was very attentive. Overall we had a delightful dinner and highly recommend this restaurant.

Standard of food was good but felt overall it was about 30% overpriced

It was lovely. We both really enjoyed it and the fact that I was gluten free was not an issue. The gluten free food from the afternoon tea was delicious! :). We didn't need to wait long and the service was fantastic.

Over priced for the quality of food.

The food was excellent but the dining experience was not great. The staff were attentive but not sufficiently trained. The restaurant itself was soulless and would benefit from professional lighting design and change of dining furniture. Could be made super. Over hyped and over priced I would say.

We visited Minster Mill for afternoon tea on a pleasantly sunny Friday in early July after reading about the restaurant's refurbishment in the Saturday Times (15 June 2019). The restaurant was very quiet and the service friendly and efficient. Plenty of food was provided for our party of three including sandwiches, scones and cakes. There are a wide selection of teas available to drink and these are chosen from a sample box brought by the serving staff. My companions chose English breakfast tea (with milk) whilst I had Elderflower and lemon. This was very refreshing and distinctly citrus-flavoured - an excellent choice. The highlight of the sandwiches was probably the cheese with tomato chutney, the chutney was absolutely delicious. Although as a rule I don't like egg mayonnaise in bread these sandwiches were also very tasty, made with Burford Brown eggs. The only slight disappointment were the Reuben sandwiches with gherkin and pastrami and the cakes which I would describe as average because the chocolate brownie was rather too heavy and the passion fruit surprise rather uninspriring as it seemed to be basically a profiterole. Six scones were provided with clotted cream and jam and these were excellent being very fresh, light and fluffy. It's would be difficult to say the full afternoon tea costing £25.00 offers good value for money however taking into account the peaceful surroundings, exemplary service and quality of sandwiches it was a most enjoyable treat.
