Very disappointed overall. We have been wishing to visit Nathan Outlaws fish restaurant for many years. The conservatory was very cold and drafty - unpleasant environment albeit pretty setting. The Lobster fritters were fantastic. The Brill, which is a firm favourite normally, arrived with head, frill, tail , bone and skin - although menu did not state this and neither did waiter advise. Hence by the time I had filleted the fish it was cold and not pleasant to eat, particularly in a cold restaurant. The deserts were disappointing so we did not par-take and we decided to take coffee in the lounge by the fire to avoid further the drafty and cold environment.

The new dining room is airy, elegant and has a great feel to it. The Dinner menu is excellent; we choose from the exciting 'specials' on the 'message in a bottle'. Two of us had the Cured Gurnard starter and agreed is was was sublime. My wife and I shared a Dover Sole which was filleted at the table and was just to die for. My son and his girl friend enjoyed their baked Turbot to the same extent. Sadly, we were off to see Hamilton at The Victoria Palace Theatre and ran out of time for a dessert giving us every reason to return! The wine list was super, we had two bottles of the delicious Puilly Fume. They have Mocktails too and as one of our number has to avoid alcohol it was great that she could enjoy a lovely drink. Thank you Nathan Outlaw and all the team at Siren. Thank you to all at The Goring Hotel.

We had very high expectations of this celebrity chef’s restaurant, the restaurant itself was cold in atmosphere and certainly in temperature . The food was very disappointing, the portions was small and quality was only moderate. It was mid week and the two of the main fish items we where looking forward to was Dover sole and Lemon sole , both were off the menu, strangely enough both where in abundance in a renown supermarket but not in this fish restaurant!!!! The ambience, service etc were good but I was very disappointed by the Tandoori Monkfish that I had for the main course. Monkfish should have a firm, resilient texture but what I received was "mushy" and quite unlike the monkfish I have eaten elsewhere. Was it deep frozen? The other complaint I had was that the music was loud and featured squawky female jazz singers. I made my feelings known about this to one of the staff but was told that they had no control over the music ~ neither content nor volume. The meal was expensive (£196 for 2) and personally I would return to the Goring main restaurant but not to Siren.
