Right by the river, Vauxhall is a buzzing post-industrial district with an impressive set of Victorian railway arches hosting several nightclubs. You can walk into the centre from here, and of course there are Vauxhall rail, Tube and bus stations serving many a destination. An eclectic array of Vauxhall restaurants serve modern European and world cuisine.
For fans of river views, there’s Aqua Brasserie, which does the aforementioned in style with floor-to-ceiling windows in its converted wharf location. Smart, modern décor provides a backdrop for a Mediterranean menu with dishes including spicy lamb sausage with harissa and pan-fried red mullet. Aqua also does a strong selection of vegetarian dishes.
Especially for veggies and other diners who want to experience something really different, there’s Bonnington Centre Café in quirky, leafy Bonnington Square and Vauxhall Grove. The café features a different vegetarian chef every night, and attracts the best chefs from around London, with a 26-strong waiting list. Chefs are volunteers, making the Bonnington’s fresh and healthy menu very affordable.
