Coastal Portsmouth boasts stunning sea views and several interesting dock areas. It’s home to the Mary Rose, a Tudor battleship that sank in 1545 and was, incredibly, recovered and restored centuries later in 1982. Sea-vessel fans can also check out the HMS Victory and HMS Warrior in Portsmouth. As you might expect, restaurants in Portsmouth do a great line in seafood, and there are some tempting traditional fish and chip cafes.
Portsmouth restaurants also include some great gastropubs. Rather excitingly, there’s a place in Portsmouth that combines pub ales and atmosphere with perfectly prepared fish and chips. The Still and West is a popular destination with great sea views. Along with fish and chips, the menu features a strong range of salads, meat dishes, posh sandwiches, and sharing plates.
For simply delicious Thai flavours, the place to be is Bangkok Thai Cuisine. Aromatic curries, rice and noodle dishes, and several vegetarian options are all on the menu. There’s also a very ample list of wines and champagnes. If you're in Southsea to catch a show at the King’s Theatre, Bangkok restaurant is right next door, so it's the perfect chance to pop in for a pre-theatre bite to eat.
